Distributor cap for mechanical ignition systems used on four-cylinder petrol engines. It has one central high-voltage input terminal and four spark-plug output terminals. Internal conductive contacts distribute the ignition-coil voltage to each cylinder in the correct firing order. The bakelite housing provides electrical insulation, heat resistance and arc resistance.
